Description

RDL RU-RN44 - bidirectional Dante/AES67 network interface 4x4 with microphone/line inputs and outputs and DSP

The RDL RU-RN44 from the RACK-UP series is a professional bidirectional Dante/AES67 audio interface that converts 4 analog microphone or line inputs to Dante/AES67 network channels and 4 Dante/AES67 network channels to analog microphone or line outputs. The device is designed for commercial and industrial installations - it can be mounted in rack cabinets, technical rooms, at conference tables, on shelves, and on mounting walls. Each output path, both analog and network, is powered by a built-in 8-channel mixer, which receives all 8 inputs of the device. The 8x8 mixing matrix, independent level control in the mixers, and programmable DSP filters make the RU-RN44 much more versatile than a typical format converter. The analog inputs support line sources and dynamic and condenser microphones - they offer a preamplifier with gain up to 60dB, individually switchable phantom power P48, and a compressor/limiter. An ultra-low latency of 2ms (analog-digital-analog) and A/D and D/A conversion at 24-bit resolution with a sampling frequency of 48kHz or 96kHz ensure high sound quality. All analog inputs and outputs are available on detachable terminal blocks, and the nominal line level is +4dBu symmetrically for -18dBFS. The interface can be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet) or from an external 24V DC power supply, available separately. In factory configuration, the inputs operate at line level, with phantom power and compressor/limiter turned off, and each channel is routed unchanged to its assigned output.

Functionality

  • conversion of 4 microphone or line inputs to Dante/AES67 in factory configuration
  • conversion of 4 Dante/AES67 channels to microphone or line outputs in factory configuration
  • 8x8 mixing matrix with DSP filters - flexible system design
  • 8-channel mixer on each output path - level adjustment for each source from full level (unity) to off (OFF)
  • ability to create mixes, e.g., mono sum from stereo source
  • ability to operate as an analog-analog audio processor with preamplifier, compression, 4 programmable DSP filters, and volume control
  • gain adjustment for analog inputs from 0 to 60dB in 3.3dB steps
  • phantom power P48 individually switchable for each input or automatically depending on gain
  • switchable compressor/limiter on each analog input
  • 1 DSP filter for each analog input and Dante/AES67
  • 3 DSP filters for each analog output and Dante/AES67
  • filter type selection: none (signal pass), high-pass, low-pass, shelving high/low, notch (boost/cut)
  • all DSP filters fully programmable - ability to set multiple filters for the same function for higher-order filtering
  • switchable 180° phase inverter on each analog output
  • switchable line/microphone pad on each analog output - for powering microphone inputs of the mixer or amplifier
  • analog output adjustment in 1dB steps below +4dBu (line level) or -46dBu (microphone level)
  • Dante/AES67 and analog output adjustment in 1dB steps from 0 to -63dB, then OFF
  • remote volume control using compatible RDL controllers, e.g., D-NMC1R and D-NLC1R (available separately)
  • configuration of all parameters in RDL CONSOLE software (version 3.0 or newer)
