Description
RDL RU-NFD - Dante network interface/distributor to Format-A over twisted pair with AUX output
The RDL RU-NFD is an audio Dante interface from Radio Design Labs that connects the Dante network to RDL Format-A devices transmitting signals over twisted pair. The module operates in the Dante network as a transmitter and distributor of Format-A. It is designed for rack enclosures, technical rooms, conference tables, shelves, and mounting panels in commercial and industrial installations. Three Dante channels are converted to Format-A pairs A, B, and C, while the fourth channel goes to a balanced AUX +4dBu line output. The Format-A signal is distributed to 3 RJ45 sockets on the rear panel, each capable of powering receivers with up to 200mA. Receivers can be daisy-chained or connected via separate lines, and they can be located at a considerable distance from the module. Receivers with higher power consumption, such as RDL D-PSP1A active speakers in Decora style, require a separate output socket. Green signal LEDs with variable brightness for each of the 4 channels facilitate configuration in locations without a computer connected to the network. Each RJ45 output has its own self-resetting fuse and power LED, making it easier to diagnose wiring errors. The RU-NFD is powered by an external 24V DC power supply (available separately), which powers the module and receivers on all 3 outputs. A PoE-powered variant is offered as a separate model RU-NFDP. The completely metal housing, manufactured in the USA for continuous operation, allows for rack or surface mounting. The product is covered by a 7-year manufacturer's warranty.
