Description
RDL FP-NML2VP - Dante interface with 2 microphone/line outputs, VCA control, and PoE power, FLAT-PAK series
The RDL FP-NML2VP is a Dante audio interface from Radio Design Labs featuring VCA level control and PoE power, allowing the connection of devices with microphone or line inputs to the Dante network, such as standard power amplifiers and mixing amplifiers. The module is suitable for rack enclosures, technical rooms, conference tables, shelves, and mounting panels in commercial and industrial installations. The interface converts 2 Dante channels to professional balanced outputs of +4dBu (at -18dBFS), which do not require additional gain. Each output has its own VCA circuit, controlled by a voltage of 0-10V DC or a resistance of 0-10kΩ, with a attenuation range from 0 to over 90dB. The levels of both outputs can be controlled by separate or a single common remote panel - RDL offers passive and multi-position rotary controls with and without muting. A recessed MIC/LINE switch at each output introduces a 50dB attenuation, allowing the powering of a mixing amplifier's microphone input. Noise remains over 80dB below the working level, headroom exceeds 18dB, and crosstalk is maintained below the noise level. The FP-NML2VP can be powered via PoE (class 0, IEEE 802.3af) or from an external 24V DC power supply (available separately). When both power sources are connected, it operates from the external power supply, maintaining PoE power reservation, and automatically switches to PoE upon loss of external power. The fully metal housing, manufactured in the USA, allows for free-standing, surface, or rack mounting. The product is backed by a 7-year manufacturer's warranty.
Functionality
- Connecting standard audio amplifiers to the Dante network
- Conversion of 2 Dante channels to professional line outputs
- Balanced outputs of +4dBu at maximum VCA setting
- Independent VCA circuit on each output - attenuation from 0 to over 90dB, logarithmic characteristic (audio)
- VCA control via 0-10V DC voltage or 0-10kΩ resistance
- Level adjustment from RDL or OEM remote panels
- Separate control of each output - powering 2 independent amplifiers
- Recessed MIC/LINE switch at each output - 50dB attenuation for powering microphone input
- Output amplifier headroom above 18dB
- PoE power (class 0, IEEE 802.3af) or from an external 24V DC power supply
- Operation with PoE in normal mode or as a backup (hot-standby)
- Automatic switch to PoE upon loss of external power
- 24-bit resolution A/D conversion
- RDL analog filtering
- Automatic muting of outputs when no active digital signal is present
- LED indicators for Ethernet link, speed, and synchronization (SYNC)
