Niveo Professional NGSME8Hx is a fully managed PoE+ Layer L2+ switch with 8 10/100/1000Base-T ports and 2 SFP 100M/1G slots, in a version with an increased power budget. The RJ45 ports support PoE+ power according to IEEE 802.3af/at with up to 30W per port and a range of up to 100m, while the built-in power supply provides a PoE power budget of 235W. This allows the switch to power multiple energy-hungry devices simultaneously, such as access points, IP cameras, or AV devices, directly through the existing LAN cable. The PoE awareness feature checks if the connected device is compliant with IEEE 802.3at, and if not, it only transmits data to it. The SFP slots allow connecting servers, storage, or other switches via fiber optics over long distances and also support 100M modules. The switch is suitable for small and medium networks, in AV installations, monitoring, and wireless networks.
The L2+ management package includes up to 4K VLAN 802.1Q networks, Protocol VLAN, Private VLAN, MVR, QoS with 8 queues, IPv4/IPv6 multicast filtering with IGMP and MLD Snooping, RSTP and MSTP protocols, LACP, LLDP, sFlow, port mirroring, and cable diagnostics. Security is ensured by HTTPS and SSH, MAC address binding to ports, 802.1X access control, AAA authentication with RADIUS and TACACS+ servers, and ACL lists. The PD Alive Check function periodically checks the powered device, e.g., an IP camera, by its IP address. If the device does not respond, the switch restarts the port power. The frequency and number of attempts, as well as the restart time, can be set in the web panel. Out-of-band management is provided by the CLI console port, while in-band management is done via SNMP and the Web GUI.
