Scenario - A New Dimension of Interactive Audio Installations Without Programming
2026-04-30Waves System introduces another feature that significantly simplifies the design and operation of professional audio systems. With the April software update, a new function called Scenario is now available, allowing users to create interactive system operation scenarios - without writing a single line of code.

Scenario is available both on AP420 players and within the Wavespark platform (including the cloud version). Once updated, it can be immediately deployed in real‑world installations.

If‑Then Logic That Works for Audio
Scenario enables the design of visual event workflows, where a specific trigger activates a defined action. Triggers may include:
- tapping a button on a smartphone,
- activation of a contact closure or control input,
- expiration of a programmed time interval,
- fulfillment of a defined logical condition.

Each trigger can initiate a specific audio system action, such as:
- starting or switching a playlist,
- playing a priority announcement,
- muting background music,
- controlling a relay or another system component.
The installer defines the rules, and the system executes them automatically - without any intervention from the end user.
Ideal for Announcements and Background Music
Scenario is particularly well suited for installations where the following are critical:
- priority announcements (e.g. in public facilities),
- conditional background music playback,
- automatic event sequences triggered at specific times or situations.
As a result, the audio system becomes more intelligent while remaining significantly easier to manage on a day‑to‑day basis.

Automatically Generated Web-Based Control Panel
One of the most practical features of Scenario is the ability to automatically generate a web-based control panel based on the configured scenario:
- the interface runs fully in a web browser,
- accessible on smartphones, tablets, and computers,
- the end user can access it via a QR code,
- wonly functional control buttons are displayed - no complex configuration menus.
This makes it an ideal solution for hotels, restaurants, offices, schools, and retail environments, where users need full operational control without the risk of changing critical system settings.
From Simple to Advanced Scenarios
For most installations, a simple structure - one trigger plus one action - is sufficient and covers approximately 80% of typical use cases.

For more advanced projects, Scenario offers an extended state machine, enabling:
- priority assignment,
- sequence building,
- logical condition definition,
- creation of complex dependencies between events.
When combined with Wavespark Pro, every scenario activation is logged, providing full operational transparency and system control.
Greater User Autonomy, Full Installer Control
Scenario is designed so that:
- the end user can operate the system independently,
- the integrator or administrator retains full control over system logic and security.
This is a major advantage in projects where stability, repeatability, and reduced service calls are essential.
Available at No Additional Cost
The Scenario function is available free of charge. Simply install the April software update to use it:
- on Waves System AP420 players,
- within the Wavespark environment.
