European Accessibility Act now in force - new opportunities for the AV market

2025-09-12

On June 28th, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) came into force, introducing unified accessibility standards for digital services and products across the EU.

The legislation covers payment terminals, ATMs, information kiosks, VOIP systems, intercoms, elevators, and self-service tills. For audio-based communication, the EAA requires the use of hearing loop technology, enabling hearing aid users to receive clear sound without background noise.

New installations must comply immediately.

Existing systems have until 2030 to become compliant.

This opens up new opportunities for AV integrators, manufacturers, and investors.

Contacta, a UK-based manufacturer of hearing support systems, offers a wide range of products designed to meet EAA requirements and integrate seamlessly into various applications.
