Description
The purpose of an intercom installed outside a public office is to help visitors handle important administrative matters safely and to ensure direct communication with staff members. However, for people with hearing loss, understanding speech coming from a small outdoor loudspeaker can be extremely difficult - especially in the presence of street noise, traffic and other environmental sounds.
The integrated induction loop Contacta IL‑EL42‑PB provides an excellent communication aid for users of hearing aids or cochlear implants equipped with a T‑coil. The module is designed for easy integration with existing intercom systems. Its IP55‑rated enclosure allows direct surface mounting next to the intercom unit. A second version, IL‑EL42‑PF, is available for flush‑mount installation.
Both modules include the required regulatory markings (T‑symbol). The input signal can be taken from the intercom’s line‑level output; if such an output is not available, the audio signal can be sourced directly from the loudspeaker terminals. Fully isolated amplifier inputs ensure safe, reliable compatibility with all types of intercom units. The built‑in AGC (Automatic Gain Control) function continuously adjusts amplification to the signal level, making installation and commissioning simple and trouble‑free.
The module requires only DC 14V/2.1A power and a connection to the audio signal output of the external intercom or video‑intercom station. The induction loop system complies with the IEC 60118‑4 standard for frequency response and performance. The effective operating range is up to 120 cm from the enclosure, providing full comfort for a person standing naturally in front of the intercom. The recommended mounting height is approximately 170 cm above ground level.
